THE GENERATOR
Use our free Markdown table generator to create GitHub Flavored Markdown tables in your browser. Add rows and columns in a visual editor, enter your data, customize alignment, and instantly generate copy-ready Markdown code—no signup and nothing uploaded to a server.
Turn spreadsheet data into a Markdown table you can edit and copy. Paste from Excel or Google Sheets, or import a CSV file, then adjust your table in the editor. When you need a full document instead of a single table, continue with Markdown to PDF or Markdown to Word.
THREE SHORT STEPS
Enter your data, check the preview, and copy your table. No installation needed.
Open the grid above and type into any cell. Add or remove rows and columns until the shape matches your data. The first row is the header GitHub will render in bold.
Copy a range from Excel or Google Sheets and use Paste Excel / CSV, or upload a .csv file. Quoted fields and commas inside values are preserved so you can fix cells in the grid before exporting.
Switch between Markdown and Preview, set column alignment if you need it, then copy the pipe table or download a .md file for your README, issue, or docs page.
CSV
Paste CSV data or upload a .csv file to turn rows and columns into a GitHub-compatible Markdown table. Commas within quoted values and empty cells are preserved. Edit the headers, values, or alignment before copying your table.

Copy a range in Excel or Google Sheets, then use Paste Excel / CSV in the toolbar—or click a cell and paste with your keyboard. Your rows and columns stay in place, with no need to save a file first. After pasting, you can edit cells, set alignment, and copy your Markdown table. Excel (.xlsx) files cannot be imported directly.

A table generator helps you create a table from scratch or from spreadsheet data. A table formatter tidies the Markdown for a table you already have. Already have a Markdown table? Use our Markdown Table Formatter to clean up spacing and align columns—or choose Import Markdown above to edit cells in the grid first.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Open the visual editor, type into the grid or paste data from a spreadsheet, set column alignment if you need it, then copy the Markdown output. The first row is treated as the header.
Yes. This Markdown table generator is free to use in your browser. There is no signup, no watermark, and your table data is not uploaded to a server.
Yes. Upload a .csv or .tsv file, or use Paste Excel / CSV to paste copied data. To enter CSV text manually, choose Import Markdown, then Switch to CSV. You can edit the table before copying.
Yes. Copy cells in Excel or Google Sheets and use Paste Excel / CSV, or paste directly into a cell. Your rows and columns stay in place. Excel (.xlsx) files cannot be imported directly.
Select a column in the visual editor and choose left, center, or right. The generator writes the correct separator markers (:---, :---:, ---:) used by GitHub Flavored Markdown.
Standard GitHub Flavored Markdown pipe tables require a header row and a separator row. You can leave the header cells empty for a blank-looking first row, but GFM does not define a true headerless table.
No. GitHub Markdown tables do not support merged cells. Keep each value in a separate cell.
