Terms of service

Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for using the Markdown Tools converters: what the service does, what you may do with it, and the limits both sides live with.

Using the Tools Means Accepting These Terms

Markdown Tools (referred to here as “the service”) is a set of free, browser-first document converters. By using the site or any of its converters, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

These terms are intentionally short and written in plain language. They do not create an account relationship, because there are no accounts. They cover what the service provides, what you may and may not do, and how liability is limited. Questions can be sent via Contact or to support@markdowntools.app.

The Service

The service currently provides five converters. Each is described on its own page, including supported features and known limits.

ToolDescription
Markdown to PDFConverts Markdown text or .md files into paginated PDF documents with selectable themes, paper sizes, margins, and optional page numbers, headers, and footers.
Markdown to WordConverts Markdown text or .md files into editable Word DOCX documents with heading styles, lists, tables, and code blocks.
PDF to MarkdownConverts uploaded PDF documents into structured Markdown, including tables and images, with OCR for scanned pages.

HTML to MarkdownConverts HTML that you paste or upload into clean Markdown in the browser.

What You May and May Not Do

The service is meant for converting documents. A few rules keep it available and safe for everyone.

Use the output freelyExpectedFiles you generate belong to you. Use them personally, commercially, or publish them as you see fit.

Unlawful or harmful contentNot permittedDo not submit content that is illegal in your jurisdiction, or use the tools to prepare fraudulent or deceptive documents.
Attacking the serviceNot permittedNo attempts to breach, probe, or disrupt the site or the conversion service.

Your Content and Your Output

You keep your rights

Documents you submit, upload, or paste remain your property. The service claims no license, ownership, or control over them beyond the single job of producing your output.

The output is yours

Files produced by the converters—PDFs, DOCX documents, Markdown, and everything else—belong to you. Use them personally, share them, publish them, or sell work made with them.

No content review

The service does not read, moderate, or archive your documents. Browser-based tools never see your content at all, and the two converters that use our conversion service discard your document right after your file is created.

Respect others

Only submit documents you own or have permission to process. Converting material you have no right to use is your responsibility, not the service’s.

Disclaimers and Limits of Liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Format conversion is inherently imperfect: tables may need adjustment, images may not transfer, and complex layouts may be simplified. Each tool page documents what converts cleanly and what does not, and you are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Markdown Tools and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business opportunities arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Availability, Changes, and Other Terms

Availability may change

The service is free and offered without uptime guarantees. Tools may be updated, suspended, or discontinued, and limits such as file sizes may change to keep the service fast and reliable.

Terms may be updated

These terms may change as the service evolves. The current version is always published on this page with the date of the last update. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Third-party content

Converted documents may contain links, images, or references to other websites. The service does not control and is not responsible for outside content, and images loaded from other websites are only fetched when you explicitly allow it in the tool’s settings.

Terms Questions

Is using the converters free?+

Yes. All tools are free, with no signup, no trial period, and no watermarks on the output.

Who owns the content I convert?+

You do. Markdown Tools claims no rights over documents you submit or files you download. Your content is processed only to produce your output and is not stored.

Can I use the output commercially?+

Yes. Converted files are yours to use however you like, including commercially. The tools make no claim on your documents.

Can the service be held responsible if a conversion is wrong?+

No. The tools are provided as-is without warranty. Always review important documents before relying on converted output; the support table on each tool page describes known limits.

Can you recover a file I converted before?+

No. Nothing is stored after your download is delivered, so previous conversions cannot be retrieved.

Do the terms ever change?+

They may be updated as the service evolves. The current version is always published on this page with the date of the last update at the top.
