No accounts
There is no signup, no login, and no user database. The site has nothing to leak because it does not know who you are.
Privacy policy
The short version: most conversions happen in your browser, nothing is stored, and there are no accounts. The details are below.
OVERVIEW
This policy explains how Markdown Tools handles information when you use the converters at markdowntools.app. It is written to be read, not skimmed past: each tool is listed with exactly what happens to your document, when it leaves your device, and when it is deleted.
The design goal is simple. If a conversion can run in your browser, it runs in your browser. If a conversion genuinely needs a server, the server acts as a short-lived calculator: it takes your document, produces your file, and forgets everything. Questions about any of this can go to support@markdowntools.app.
TOOL BY TOOL
This table is the core of the policy. It describes, per tool, where conversion happens and when content leaves your device.
| Tool | What happens | Content leaves your device |
|---|---|---|
| Markdown to PDF | Your Markdown stays in the browser while you edit. When you request a PDF or a paginated preview, the formatted document and your layout settings are sent to the conversion service, used to create the file, and discarded immediately afterward. Attached local images travel with the document for the same purpose. | Only when exporting |
| Markdown to Word | The DOCX document is generated entirely in your browser. Your Markdown is never uploaded or sent to any server. | Never |
| PDF to Markdown | The PDF file you upload is sent to the conversion service to extract text, tables, images, and, when needed, OCR text from scanned pages. The extracted result is returned to you and the uploaded file is deleted right after processing. | Only when converting |
| Word to Markdown | Conversion runs locally in your browser. Your DOCX file never leaves your device. | Never |
| HTML to Markdown | Conversion runs locally in your browser. Your HTML never leaves your device. | Never |
BY DESIGN
The service is built so that there is almost nothing to collect in the first place.
There is no signup, no login, and no user database. The site has nothing to leak because it does not know who you are.
The tools do not embed advertising networks, cross-site trackers, or behavior analytics. There is nothing here that follows you around the web.
Documents sent to the conversion service are kept only while your file is being created. They are never saved, never backed up, and never shared.
Your content is never used to train models, build profiles, or sold to anyone. It is used for exactly one thing: producing the file you asked for.
THE DETAILS
Two converters use a separate conversion service: Markdown to PDF (to place your content on precise pages) and PDF to Markdown (to read text, tables, and images out of a PDF, including scanned pages). The three browser-only tools—HTML to Markdown, Word to Markdown, and Markdown to Word—never send your content anywhere. When a service is used, only what the conversion needs is sent along—your formatted Markdown with layout options, or the PDF file you chose. The service returns your finished file and discards everything else. Documents are never saved, searched, or used for any other purpose.
Like nearly every website, the companies that host this site keep standard security logs to prevent abuse. These may include your IP address, the time of your visit, and which page was opened. They do not include your document content, and they are kept only for a short time.
RETENTION
What is kept, for how long, and by whom.
| Item | Retention |
|---|---|
| Documents you convert | Kept only while your file is being created, then discarded immediately. Not stored, not logged, not recoverable. |
| Files produced for you | Sent straight to your browser as a download. The site keeps no copy once your download is delivered. |
| Routine security logs | The companies that host this site keep standard security logs, such as your IP address, the time of your visit, and the page opened, to prevent abuse. These logs do not contain your document content. |
| Settings in your browser | Converter preferences may be saved in your browser so they survive a page reload. You can clear them any time from your browser settings. |
| Email you send | If you contact support@markdowntools.app, the message and your email address are used only to read and reply to your request. |
GOOD TO KNOW
The tools may remember your converter preferences in your browser so they survive a page reload. No cookies are set for advertising, and no identifiers are shared with third parties. Links to other websites inside your converted content are not opened or followed by the site.
The service is a general-purpose document utility and is not directed at children under 13. Because there are no accounts, no personal information is knowingly collected from anyone, including children.
YOUR CHOICES
There is very little of your data to control, because very little is kept. What exists is entirely in your hands.
Use the converters that run fully in your browser—HTML to Markdown, Word to Markdown, and Markdown to Word—when a document must never leave your device.
Converter preferences stored in your browser can be removed at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings. Nothing is kept on our side to delete.
For any privacy question or request, visit Contact or email support@markdowntools.app. Since no accounts exist, there is no profile to export or erase—but questions are answered honestly.
If the way information is handled ever changes, this page will be updated with a new date at the top. Major changes—for example, another converter that needs our service—will be described clearly here before they take effect. The current version always lives at markdowntools.app/privacy/.
COMMON QUESTIONS
No. Documents handled by the two converters that use our service are kept only while your file is being created and are discarded right after. The three browser-based converters never send your content anywhere at all.
Markdown to PDF needs to place content on precise pages, which browsers cannot yet do reliably, and PDF to Markdown needs to read text, tables, and scanned pages out of a PDF. Both finish your file, return it, and delete everything immediately.
No advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. Converter preferences may be kept in your browser, which you can clear at any time.
No, and that is intentional. Nothing is stored after your download is delivered, so there is nothing to recover, leak, or hand over.
